Drumline
The Copiague High School Drumline is the most successful Drumline in Long Island history. No other Drumline has accomplished as much over as long a period of time as has Copiague!

The Drumline won its first award for “Best Percussion” in 1986 at the Long Island Championship. Other awards were soon to come and over the years awards have included the Citrus Bowl and the Pearl Championship Drum Award which has been won four separate times.

While we speak of special awards, our percussion section has earned more than just the awards that have been mentioned. Members of the ‘line come away with a sense of purpose, a feeling of accomplishment and memories that last a lifetime.

Drumline starts in the January before the new school year with rehearsals on Tuesday evenings until Summer. The section is taught the skills necessary to support the music performed by the wind players. An evaluation of each musician is made in the late Spring and parts are assigned and a show written to the talent level of that year’s section.

During the Summer the section rehearses on Tuesday evenings along with winds and Colorguard. When school starts there are sectional during the week as well as full Band rehearsals. Performances include all football games and competitions during the Fall as well as parades during the Spring.
