Welcome to our brand new website. After some false starts over a number of years our Band now has a home on the web! Our goal in creating
this site was to provide a place where our Band Family can come together. Whether you are a current member, a parent, alumni or a friend
of the Band, this will be the place where you can find out what’s happening. Current members and parents need to be checking the
site several times weekly through our Fall season for updates and important information. Alumni can check where the Band will be next and
can keep in touch through our alumni page. Our friends, many of which have supported our Band for nearly twenty years, can look back over
our accomplishments and know that they have been a part of the tradition of excellence we have established in Copiague.
Some have said that
a website is successful only if it is updated regularly and if people use it. Anyone who has been a part of our Band knows how much I
have relied upon the mail to deliver timely and important information to members and their parents. My goal is communicate electronically
through the Members Section of our website. With the realization that it takes many hours to process mail and days for it to arrive, utilizing
this site will provide instant communication and provide me with extra time to work with students as our Band has grown significantly
larger.
I encourage all to navigate our site. Find out what our history is and how we grew to be the band we are today. Learn who our student
and parent leaders are. Most of all spend some time getting to know what is here. You’ll be better able to find the information you
need when the time comes.
I would remiss if I didn’t take the time to thank a few people who have helped make this site come to life. The first person we need
to remember is our Superintendent, Dr. William R. Bolton who granted permission for us to create the first official activity website in the
District. His guiding hand has helped us achieve a website far beyond what could have been imagined. Kathy Beatty of Syntax Communications
(the District’s public relations firm) has been patient and encouraging as we have tried to get this launched. Glenn Romanelli of Syntax,
who has done such a marvelous job in designing our website. And not to be forgotten are two parents who have helped us get to where we are.
Mr. Viet Ngyuen who developed the initial prototype that served as the model for a band website and Mrs. Laura Gavey who has been my confidant
and sounding board as we have worked through the last eight months to bring this to life.
Thank you to everyone. Congratulations to our Band
on having the finest high school band site many have ever seen. Best wishes to all as you visit the new home of the Copiague High School
Band!
